The highly popular, 6-part television series Hopeville will be re-broadcast on SABC 2 from Thursday.
The moving series is about a man who has the courage to do what is right, but with potentially dire results for himself and his son. Hopeville tackles issues of the day like crime, corruption, service delivery and family relationships, and through its influence South Africans will again be inspired to take action in changing their communities instead of waiting for others to do something.
The series was commissioned by Heartlines, an NGO that uses films to help people live good values, including honesty, perseverance, compassion and responsibility, in partnership with SABC Education.

During the six week that Hopeville first screened on national television in March and April 2009, Heartlines was inundated with stories of action, as South Africans across the country reached out and helped others.
Heartlines is also currently running a series of Heartlines Comes To Town events across South Africa, where, for 4 days, Heartlines runs training workshops for different sectors (including municipal employees, Councillors, youth leaders, educators and faith-based leaders); as well as hosts community viewings of Hopeville, followed by values conversations.
The purpose of Heartlines Comes To Town is to tackle social problems in a municipal area by inspiring citizens to live good values as well as improving relationships in and between sectors and thus social cohesion in the area.
