SA Tourism and Coca-Cola concluded a promotion last month in each of the FIFA Confederations Cup competing nations, with 130 people having won a trip to South Africa to attend the tournament.
The campaign was run during the month of April in Italy, Spain, Brazil, South Africa, the US and Egypt.
"This promotion with Coca-Cola has given us an additional 130 destination ambassadors. Each of them will participate in promotional activities in their respective countries and will become part of our larger global drive to make the most of South African's status as FIFA host nation in order to grow our tourism industry," said Sugen Pillay, global manager of events at SA Tourism.
SA Tourism's affiliation with Coca Cola will allow both organisations to effectively market the country globally prior to the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
The 20 South Africans, 40 Americans, 20 Spaniards, 40 Brazilians, 20 Italians and 10 Egyptian winners will be in South Africa from the 13th till the 19th of June, and will attend matches in each of the Confederations Cup host cities.
The Confederations Cup begins in Johannesburg on the 14th of June, at Coca Cola Park.
